1st November 2007
September was our missions month. We had different speakers each week for the Sunday service, including some from missions organisations. It was a challenging month, helping us to see where we as individuals fit into missions. As part of the month, we held a Global Evening with samples of food from different countries. It was a very enjoyable and educational evening.
October was a very busy month! Our Harvest and Brigades Enrolment Combined Service was a huge blessing. The church was packed out with almost 70 people, including 20 children, and around 40 joined us for a Harvest Feast afterwards. We praise God for the wonderful time we had.
We also held a Holiday Club during the October half term which was attended by about 17 children. We had a great time learning about Bible stories, singing songs, doing quizzes and making things. The children had a blast (and so did we) and we look forward to doing it again. On the final day, we held a family BBQ in the evening which was very well attended. On the Sunday we held a special service which a couple of the children came to.
We have been busy packing shoeboxes full of gifts to send to underpriviledged children through Operation Christmas Child. So far we have filled 27 boxes and we are hoping for even more. If you have an empty shoebox, or would like to donate some gifts to go in the boxes, there is still time to bring them in!
On Hallowe'en we held an alternative "Animal Crackers" party for children aged 5-11 (although we also had a couple of younger children!). 8 children attended and we had a great time with them playing games and eating party food! The children went home with party bags crammed full of goodies - much better than "trick or treat"!
Now we are looking ahead to Christmas. We have several events planned which we will tell you about at a later date. Keep praying for us all - with God all things are possible!
31st August 2007September is missions month! We are inviting different missions organisations to come in and talk about what God is doing through them. We are also having a Global Night on 22nd September from 6-8pm. This will be a chance to sample foods and culture from around the world and will be open to the public. The church is now supporting a missionary couple in South Africa. You can find out more about missions here.
We are currently in the process of decorating the church. There has been a new carpet laid in the gym as well as new light fittings throughout. We are now painting the main church building. The paint was supplied to us free of charge as well as the rollers and brushes. Further improvements are planned for the near future.

In the October half term we will be holding a holiday club for children. The week will culminate in an event for the whole family. We are also planning to hold a harvest celebration and an alternative Hallowe'en party in October.
We will soon be opening the church during the day. We will have a reception at the front of the church and our doors will be open for people to come in and use our facilities (such as the toilets), have a cup of coffee, chat or ask questions. Errol has recently been preparing his sermons at the church during the day and this has given him several opportunities to chat to people who are passing the church. We are therefore really excited about having the church open as we feel this will be a great outreach opportunity.
7th August 2007
On 28th July, the church had a Family Fun Day for the community at the church. We had inflatables, face painting, competitions, games, crafts, BBQ, refreshments, toddler toys and much more. Several hundred people attended and it was a fantastic day. Admission was free but we asked for 10p to play some of the games, and we also accepted donations for refreshments. We raised £231.85 which will be used for flood relief in the UK. See photos from the day here.
The church is now planning many more evangelistic events. Please pray for God's guidance and for many souls to be saved.
2nd July 2007
June was a fruitful time for us, where 8 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour. On 24th June in the Sunday School class, 4 girls prayed to receive Christ. The following Friday at youth group, 4 boys received Christ. There was great rejoicing in heaven, and it was echoed in Shotgate Baptist Church. Praise the Lord!
On 28th July, from 12-5pm, we will be having a family fun day at the church with inflatables, games, competitions, face painting, BBQ, toddler area and much more. The day will be provided free of charge by the church for the community. We hope that many people will join us and that it will be an opportunity for us to get to know the local people.
Previous News...
May and June have been a busy and exciting time for us. Toddles has seen huge growth and we now have 30 families on our books. We started the group on a 2nd day to accommodate everyone. We are really enjoying getting to know the parents and carers that attend.
The youth club is also growing fast with almost 50 young people on the books. Our regular attendance is around 26. We have had a lot of support from the parents and we feel we are building up relationships with them and their children. We have 2 new helpers with the group which enables us to do more. We've started a craft table which is suprisingly popular with the boys! Next Friday we are taking them to play Quazer and in July we are hoping to take a group to a Christian camp called Solid. Vicky started a Sunday school for older children, and 2 of the young people have attended.
On Sunday 10th June we had a baptism service to baptise Amanda who has recently started attending the church.
On Saturday 16th June we are having a couples night. So far 6 couples have confirmed that they are coming. We will be having a 3 course meal, games and a short talk from Errol. The following day is Fathers Day and we are celebrating with a special service to honour all men, as all men can be father figures.
