OUR PURPOSE & VISION

God said that He will build His church (Matthew 16:18) and it is our purpose to live the life that God has called us for. The church is God's most important institution and we will honour Him through His church.

Shotgate Baptist Church has a three-fold purpose that explains our ministry.

Also known as the "E"ase of Our Purpose and Vision

1. EXALTING THE SAVIOUR - REACHING UP (1 Corinthians 6:20)

As a called people it is our priviledge to first and foremost reach up to the Lord and exalt Him as Lord.

A. Focus on the WORSHIP

We exalt the Lord in and through our worship. We aim to have meaningful worship through our singing and music during our services. We draw closer to the Lord in our spirit filled worship. Jesus seeks worshippers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth.(John 4:23)

B. Focus on the WALK

Exalting the Lord must also be reflected in the way we live. Our walk in the world must be Christ-like. Our speech and conduct should be indicative of Jesus. Our walk both in private and in public should be exalting the Lord. The lifestyle of any and every born again christian is of vital importance.(Ephesians 5:15-16) 

C. Focus on the WORK

We have been called and saved to be sent and used by God(Isaiah 6:8). We exalt the Lord in our work for God in both, church, home, life and anywhere else God chooses to use us. We believe in being active for the Lord.

2. EDIFYING THE SAINTS - REACHING IN (2 Timothy 2:15; Ephesians 4:11-12)

God has given us the responsibility to build and edify all those under our care. All believers needs spiritual nourishment and that is received through the local church.

A. Focus on the WORD 

We believe the most important Book in the world and for Life is the Bible(Hebrews 4:12). The Bible is the living Word of the Lord. We build everyone based on the Word of God. Our desire should be the Bible. We will get to now the Lord through scripture. We focus on the Word in all areas of ministry.

• The pulpit: teaching and preaching.
• Bible study.
• Prayer Meeting.
• House Groups.
• Departments: Sunday school, brigades, youth, ladies, men, music.

B. Focus on the WILL

Not only is the Bible our desire but it is also our desire to find God's will from the Bible and live it. Search the will of God and Serve the will of God. We help people find God's will for their lives and challenge them to follow that will of the Lord.

3. EVANGELISING THE SINNERS - REACHING OUT (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47)

Focus on the WORLD

In all our reaching up to the Saviour, reaching in to the Saints we will always be an evangelising church. Our focus is the world. The world needs to know the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. We have dedicated our lives to reach the lost both in the local community, surrounding areas, other cities and other countries.

It is our prayer that we would be faithful in our calling in serving the Lord.
